Here is a theme song to the campaign #PlasticPandemicKenya which was recorded by Christopher Muriithi. The song puts pressure on authorities and consumer brands to solve plastic pollution.
Launched in August 2020, campaign asks all Kenyans and friends of Kenya to take pictures and videos of plastic waste and post them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and tag all polluting brands using hashtag #PlasticPandemicKenya.
Kenyan waste pickers get paid the equivalent of 1 USD for every 1000 plastic bottles they collect. Here is the story of Leah who works at one of the PET bottles collection centres in Kenya.
